Wooden Chess Table

This table I designed is a project that I like a lot, because it’s one of the only times I’ve been able to make a project that takes up a large amount of space. Most of what I’d done up to that point had all been scaled down or digital. I’ve always enjoyed playing chess since I learned from my father, so when the time came to make a game table, I leapt at the chance to be able to make a chess table.

The only thing that limited this project when I was making it was that I could only use one sheet of plywood to make it all. How I used that one sheet was entirely up to me, and how much I could safely get out of it when cutting the pieces out with a large-scale CNC. Since this was a chess table, I also made a matching chess set to go with it, which you can learn more about by clicking on the images below.
